Stone Walls

From Pennsylvania Field stone to Modular Block walls, Antique granite to Mosaic, stone walls are available in styles as varied as the very they landscapes they traverse. Available in a wide variety of natural options (sandstone, limestone, granite, field stone, to concrete blocks designed to appear like natural stone), there is a perfect fit for every home – the challenge is finding the perfect stone for you. Sandstone and limestone are popular choices due to the fact that they can be cut into a wide array of different shapes. Available in shades from gray to tan, these stones can even be used as a veneer – in which case a stone wall would be backed by concrete. Granite is also widely used, due to its strong and durable qualities. Able to be cut into large rectangular shapes, granite is often a popular choice for those whose desire is to create a large rock wall. Field stone is generally more rounded, especially when compared to quarried stone which is often freshly broken. Field stone can also vary greatly in size – from huge boulders to rocks which fit easily into the palm of your hand.

Masonry Walls

  • Load Bearing Masonry Walls: built with stone, rock, cement or concrete blocks. These walls carry the weight of the entire structure, and therefore must be extremely strong and sturdy
  • Reinforced Masonry Walls: dependent upon the amount of expected load bearing, reinforced walls are strengthened at specific intervals, both horizontally and vertically
  • Hollow Masonry Walls: great for preventing moisture from reaching the interior of a building – as any moisture that enters simply drains downward and out of the home
  • Composite Masonry Walls: Aesthetically pleasing and budget-friendly, composite walls are bonded together either by the use of steel ties or a reinforced horizontal joint
