We are firm believers that one of the most important steps of any job is preparation. We take pride in preparing not only the surface which will be refinished but the entire area around it; ensuring that your personal property is protected. Old cabinets may have such a great deal of built-up grease, fingerprints, and dust that it is difficult to clean them properly. Remove all objects from the cabinets and drawers. Spread a drop cloth or drop cloths around the work area to avoid getting paint on your floors. Place a small piece of masking tape on the interior of each cabinet door and drawer.
Refinishing your kitchen cabinets is already a big and exciting change however we always suggest our clients to change the hardware and hinges if possible for a final touch. Paint each door and drawer front with primer using a sprayer, roller or brush. If you use a brush, paint with long, smooth, even motions so the brush strokes are not visible. Do not forget to paint the edges of the cabinet doors. Do not forget to paint both sides of the doors, but allow the front to dry before painting the back. Paint the cabinet bases and drawer fronts and allow the paint to dry.
A great way to refresh your cabinets is to have them refinished, giving them a face-lift. Refinishing is a process where the old finish or stain is removed, the surface is sanded and repaired, and new finish is applied to the cabinets. By refinishing your cabinets you can completely change the look and feel of your entire space. Cabinet refinishing can make your light wood darker or turn your stained cabinets into a beautiful kitchen and bathroom with a full body color.
